Work Experience

March 2023. Researcher at Sapienza University of Rome. The reserch is focused on the development of Lab-on-Chip for sensing of markers in the food-agricultural chain, enviroment and diagnostics based on molecular technicques, aptamers and antibodies. The lab-on-chip is based on different analytical techniques: chemiluminescence, fluoerescence and electrochemiluminescence.

November 2019-March 2023. Researcher at CREA-DC.

The reserch was focused on the development of analytical protocols for the detcion of Pantoea Stewarti subsp. Stewarti and study the mechanism of its trasmission to mais plants trough prassitic insects.

Development of Lab-on-Chip for molecular diagnosis of Xylella fastidiosa and tests of active subtsances to avoid its diffusion into the enviroment.

August 2018-November 2019: Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Information, Electronic and telecomunication Engineering of Sapienza University (Rome, Italy). The research was focused on the development of electrochemiluminescence and real-time PCR for the detection of pathogens in Lab-on-Chip.

July 2016-June 2018: Postdoctoral researcher at the School of Aerospace Engineering Sapienza University (Rome, Italy). The research was focused on the development of novel sensing techniques based on aptamers for the detection of life markers in the space enviroment.

January 2014-June 2016: Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Astronautic, Electrical and Energetics engineering, Sapienza University (Rome, Italy). The research was focused on the development of novel surface chemistry techniques and their integration into lab-on- chip systems for the detection of biomarkers for the diagnosis of celiac disease and metabolic disorders such as diabetes and hypercholesterolemia. Detection of mycotoxins in food and beverage. Development of PCR on-chip and SELEX on-chip

December 2010–December 2013: Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemistry. The research was focused on the development of novel nanomaterials based on polymer brushes for applications in the field of health-care and food quality control.

August 2009 – December 2010: Chemist at the Department of Bioimaging PET-CT at Cattolica University (Rome, Italy), for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals for PET applications, quality control and validation of analytical methods.

Education and Training

February 2005-June 2009: PhD student at Supramolecular Chemistry and Technology (SMCT) and Molecular Nanofabrication (MnF) groups (Http://mnf.tnw.utwente.nl, Enschede, The Netherlands), under the supervision of Prof. D.N. Reinhoudt and Jurriaan Huskens. The PhD research was focused on the immobilization of organic, metallic catalysts and enzymes on the surface interior of microchannels to study (bio)chemical reactions in sub-micrometer scale. Thesis Title: “Supported organic, NanoMetallic and Enzymatic catalysis in Microreactors”

July 2004-December 2004: Internship at Pepscam System B.V. (www.pepscan.nl Lelystad, The Netherlands). The Research was focused on the synthesis of organic compounds for medicinal chemistry.

November 2003-May 2004: Internship at Pharmacy “Al Sacro Cuore” (Bologna Italy) for attending the qualification exam for the pharmacist profession.

November 2003-May 2004: Internship at the Biochemistry Department of Bologna University (Bologna, Italy). The research was focused on studying the isomerization of mono/ polyunsaturated residues in phospholipids of cellular membranes (in vivo and in vitro) as a novel path of membrane damage.

September 1996-October 2003: Master Degree in Medicinal Chemistry, University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy): During the undergraduate period the research was focused on fatty acid chemistry. Master Thesis Title: "cis-trans isomers of unsaturated fatty acids in rat tissues" (Department of Biochemistry, Bologna, Italy).
